When we moved into our home a little over 5 years ago we became the proud owners of a very boring kitchen. White walls, white cupboards and zero character. Once we got our lounge to a more homely feeling space we turned our attention to the kitchen to make it feel… Less clinical! After all, we had been entertaining friends and neighbours and, as the song almost goes “you’ll always find us in the kitchen at parties”. This space is used way more than any other in the house, my wife and I spend most evenings in here catching up after work and cooking 3 different meals at the same time (a 6 year old, a couple of vegetarians and a horde of teenagers makes meal times interesting!).
Now, I feel I did great things with very little in terms of knowledge or resources! I swaps out the plain handles for some lovely black ones, painting the fronts a pale grey and tried my hand at tiling for the first time. All in all we have loved the space as it is and it has served us well. Just see below some pictures of it in all it’s glory!
So, with all the love we have for this kitchen the time has come to move on, it’s tired now! There are paint scratches where hands pore at the treat cupboard, dirty marks from those who can’t seem to use handles… And more recently hair dye marks that won’t come off! After all, the kitchen is also our barber/salon as well!
The idea is all in my mind and I will document the progress as I go, so do come back and check in from time to time to get an idea of how it is going and how I plan to transform our kitchen on the cheap (again…).
